The item: the ankle-strap heel

- - No comments
These heels will make you want to ditch your trusty sneakers for the summer. Elegant, trendy and super chic, we look at the many reasons we want ankle-strap heels!
We’re not sure if it’s the new ways celebs and street style stars are wearing them or because they’re guaranteed to add a sophisticated edge to any outfit, but ankle-strap heels are everywhere!

WHY WE WANT THEM

We're not complaining, though, because while we love our sneakers, it’s rather refreshing to bare our feet to the outside elements – especially now that it's summer! Plus these gorgeous shoes not only lengthen your pins for leggy look, they can also be worn with everything. Another plus... they've been spotted on the most influential fashion people around – exactly why we want them, stat! Here are three of our favourite ways to wear the ankle-strap heel.

HOW TO WEAR THEM

1. Tied around the hem of your pants
Like we've already said, these heels go with everything – even pants. You might ask what the point is in wearing pants only for them to hide the best part of the shoe… Well, there’s a new heel hack in town and it involves wrapping your straps over the hems of your pants.

2. With bicycle shorts
Dare to be different and wear your strappy heels with a pair of bicycle shorts. The trick to getting this look right is how you style your top half. If your shorts are patterned keep it simple and sleek with a plain T-shirt and a neutral oversized blazer. A blazer and heels will keep the bicycle shorts looking polished and sophisticated. Accessorise with a bag of your choice (our faves are the bum bag or the slouchy bag) and sunglasses.
3. With midi and maxi skirts and dresses
Draw attention to the slimmest part of your leg – flattered even further by the straps of your heels – by opting for dresses or skirts that end either just above the ankle or at mid calf. For printed fabrics, keep the colour of your heels neutral. And if you’re opting for a skirt, a slouchy sweater always works well, or a cropped top if it’s warm.
