From ‘70s-inspired glitter make-up to bold, standout colour, these are the key beauty trends to follow for the new AW20 season.
From innovative ways of wearing colourful make-up to bold glitter looks with strong disco vibes, these are the key beauty trends to be channeling this season.
WARM AND EARTHY SHADES
Thanks to Tom Ford, Elie Saab and Max Mara, warm earthy make-up shades are back on the Fashion Week map. From dimensional smoked out eye make-up to soft monotone nudes worn on lips and cheeks, shifting your make-up shades into neutral territory will guarantee looks that ooze understated elegance.

A NEW LEVEL OF GLOWING SKIN
Clean, pared down make-up has been around for so many seasons that it’s arguably a classic look. Hydrating skincare, barley-there foundation and polished brows form the backbone of this minimalist look but this season’s skin reaches new dewy dimensions. The trick? Facial massage before make-up and skincare application – just ask the models who walked the most recent runways.

A LITTLE DISCO DRAMA
Think glitter-smattered lids, foil-adorned eyes and sparkling smoky looks paired with voluminous hair inspired by the party scene of the late ‘70s. Providing plenty of inspo for your next night out, it’s time to bring out the dazzling disco diva in you!

POPS OF NEON
The likes of Guy Laroche, Carolina Herrera and Natasha Zinko didn’t let the moody winter hues get them down and used flashes of fluorescent colours to brighten up the eyes. Fresh and modern, artists kept colour as the main point of interest, with the rest of the make-up being as subtle and understated as possible. We also noticed the perfect winged liner, expert graphic lines and playful little arrows of bright eye shadow that hovered just above the crease in the outer corner of the eye.

EXTRA-LENGTH LASHES
Lashes were loaded with mascara on the A/W runways, and we couldn’t be more excited. This is an easy trend to adopt. One way artists amped up their lashes was by combining multiple layers of mascara with false lashes, creating a voluminous and slightly clumpy make-up look. As to how to wear these bombshell lashes? Paired with the most dewy complexion and subtle lips.

RED ALWAYS RULES
While this bold beauty colour never ceases to trend, there was something decidedly different about the way this classic shade was worn on the A/W runways – which was any and every way you want! Whether vibrant carmine shades or deep, vampy burgundies, we saw every finish imaginable – shiny, sheer, matte, crisply outlined and softly blurred out. Who knew one colour could be rocked in so many ways!
