The snakeskin boot

From RiRi’s head-to-toe Coachella 2018 look to Gucci’s SS19 runway, there’s no slithering away from snakeskin it seems. And, as we see it, this print can pretty much be considered a neutral this season – especially when worn in the classic tones of grey, white and black.

If you’re a snakeskin newbie, we recommend sliding into the trend by pairing your snakeskin boots with a tonal look. Top it off with a dusty pink puffer to add a touch of colour.

The western boot

The western boot came back with a bang in 2018, and, if the runways of Calvin Klein, Fendi and Isabel Marant are anything to go by, it's not going anywhere.

Keep this look ‘cohesive’ and not ‘cowgirl’ by incorporating your western boots in your tonal look – another big trend that’s sticking around – accented by a pop of colour or animal print. Thankfully, the western boot of the season has moved on from the squat, embroidered look of the noughties, and isn’t above a little added interest in the form of buckles, studs and zips.

The over-the-knee boot

If there was a sliding scale of boot styles, over-the-knee boots would firmly be on the ‘sexy’ side of the scale, but we think they deserve a little more credit, to be honest. Yes, the iconic Pretty Woman look can’t quite be pushed aside, but once you start looking at over-the-knee boots more objectively, you’ll learn to appreciate them as a way to stretch your wear of certain wardrobe items into an entirely new season.

Your favourite floaty summer dress? Add tights, your new over-the-knee boots and a trendy knit, and it’s just become your signature winter look. In terms of colour and style, we’re fans of keeping this look classic – black with a mid-height block heel, to make sure you get a few season’s wear out of them. Think of it as a boot version of your LBD.

The sock boot

Think of sock boots as the cold-weather version of your summer pumps. Easy to pull on in the morning without much planning, and the perfect partner to your collection of midi skirts – we’re all about extending the wear of your summer wardrobe favourites as we head into winter.

The sock boot also adds an element of sleekness to any look, whether you pair them with tights or socks and a slim-fitting skirt or your favourite skinny jeans, they’re also a sure-fire way to ensure legs for days – in case you needed an extra excuse to add them to your cart this winter.

The combat boot

The easiest choice for sneaker-lovers who are struggling to let go of their kicks this winter, the combat boot gives you instant style and comfort, without compromising on either. Known for its functionality, the combat boot is given a new lease on life this winter with a variety of new hues – with tones of baby blue and violet leading the way.

This season, we’re loving combat boots with sheer fabrics, generously proportioned hemlines and a little slouchiness to prevent the look from being too stuffy. Feeling brave? Throw out your fluffy winter socks and pair your combat boots with delicate hosiery or statement socks.

The white boot

We’re calling it: the white boot is the sexy boot of the season. Is it because it’s such a style statement in a season traditionally dominated by tones of black and grey? Is it because it works best with a flirty mini? Because it gives you instant confidence no matter the heel height? We’re nodding ‘yes’ to all of the above while we quickly add it to our basket.

Our advice? Pair your white boots with a touch of snakeskin print in your outfit, and use the opportunity to nail two trends at once for a look that’s as perfect for a brunch with the girls as it is for a night out on the town.
