How to create the perfect festive harvest table

- - No comments
Want to try something different and relaxed for Christmas this year? Why not try an informal yet trendy harvest table? It's like a buffet, but chicer.
What better way to enjoy a delicious Christmas lunch with all the trimmings than outside in your garden or on your patio? A daytime festive harvest table allows much more room to be playful.

To achieve a calm and carefree feel, a harvest table is especially appealing – think tree stumps, bright red serviettes, crusty bread, charcuterie boards, cheese and fruit. This no-fuss approach offers guests the ability to pick and choose what they like – similar to a buffet but chicer.

Keep it simple and laid-back when it comes to choosing a tablecloth or, if you have a wooden table, show it off by using textured runners that mimic the outdoors, such as ones made from linen or hemp. This applies to your cutting boards too – opt for boards made from textured woods like bamboo.

When it comes to platters, you could go neutral with dependable white, which will contrast nicely against your smorgasbord of delicious eats. Inject some colour with a variety of textured or gem-hued stemware.

In terms of furniture, set the scene of your outdoor soiree by fastening some seat pads on the chairs, or amp up the Christmas theme with some quirky festive-themed scatter cushions.

For decoration, ditch the expected pine cones and, instead, bring the outside in with succulents, cuttings of indigenous plants and bits of greenery from your own garden.
