HOW TO CREATE FOUR LOOKS FROM ONE SUIT

- - No comments
Yes, a suit is a pricey investment, but there are so so many more ways to wear a suit than the one traditional way. We break down four looks from one suit.
A tailored pair of pants, structured blazer and fitted waistcoat that make up the sophisticated three-piece suit do not always have to be worn together. By pairing one suit element with one or two laid-back items, you can create a couple of really bomb looks that will ensure you’re dressed for any occasion.

1. THE GOLFER AND PANTS

A great way to get more wear out of your suit pants is to pair them with a crisp white golfer, buttoned right up to the top. This look is far more casual than a full suit, but the pants give it that extra touch of swagger. You might usually be inclined to pair a golfer with a pair of casual chinos, but suit pants are just one step up, and you’ve got the added bonus of the pants fitting you just the way you like them. This look is ideal for the weekend.

2. THE SHIRT, WAISTCOAT AND CHINOS

If you find you don’t often get the opportunity to sport your waistcoat, a casual take is to style it with a crisp long-sleeved white shirt and beige chinos. A blazer isn’t necessary, as it would take the look up a notch to formal. Tip: make sure the waistcoat fits well – it should never be baggy. The end of the waistcoat should cover your belt line, which will help to lengthen your torso and make the outfit appear more cohesive.

3. THE GOLFER, BLAZER AND JEANS

There’s a reason jeans are continuously being lauded the ultimate staple. Consider pairing a dark-blue pair of jeans with a black golf shirt, over which you could layer your suit blazer. These elements work together to form a smart ensemble that doesn’t feel stifling – perfect for casual Fridays at the office before you head into the city for after-work drinks.

4. THE FULL THREE-PIECE SUIT

A full three-piece suit is a sartorial must-have. Suits are ideal for those grey-area occasions in which a suit and waistcoat isn’t enough and a full tuxedo is complete overkill. The full monty may seem OTT initially, but you could swap out the waistcoat to nail an interview on Monday and, when that wedding on Saturday comes around, you can don all three pieces to make a real statement. In terms of colour, because three-piece suits are dressier than the regular blazer and pants you might have in your closet, opt for neutral colours like navy, charcoal and light grey. You’ll get so much more wear out of them, as you’ll be able to pair them with almost anything.
