The high-heeled boot

The high-heeled boot is the epitome of sophisticated style. The key consideration here is the height of the heel; think versatility and comfort for a pair of boots that will work for a variety of occasions, without killing your feet. Pair yours with skinny jeans, a basic tee and a leather jacket for an effortless off-duty look. Top tip: avoid overly embellished boots, as these can date quickly; rather opt for a classic look that will take you through multiple seasons.

The ankle boot

Arguably the most essential boot of them all, the ankle boot will take you far. Trendy and super easy to wear, it looks great with long skirts, midi skirts, dresses, trousers, mom jeans, skinny jeans… you name it. Choose a neutral colour that you can pair with any outfit, day or night.

The Chelsea boot

The humble Chelsea boot will add a chic touch to any outfit. Its snug fit and ankle-grazing height is understated enough to lend itself to a variety of looks. It’s durable, in vogue and arguably the most comfortable style of boot out there. We love black and tan options, as they go with anything. Match yours with your favourite pair of skinny jeans and puffer jacket for a casual-cool look.

All three of these styles can be found at selected Edgars stores nationwide.

Winter lip trends you’ll love

- - No comments
It’s fun to play around with your make-up, especially in winter when you can wear more than you would in summer. Make your lips stand out with these easy-to-do looks.
We all know the impact of eye shadow, highlighters and bronzers when it comes to creating pretty peepers and perfectly chiselled cheeks – but it’s lipstick that has the most power to change our look. Our round-up of the hottest (and wildest) lip looks to covet this season, is all the proof you need. It’s a lipstick jungle out there!

Deep, dark and dramatic

From rich oxblood and burgundy to deep plum and black, dark lips are a great choice this winter. These seductive shades may look daring, but they come off more glam than emo when worn correctly. The key is to balance your look and pair your moody mouth with groomed, well-defined eyebrows, minimal eye make-up and soft cheeks, allowing your lips to be the main focus.

Purple rain

Pantone's colour of the year for 2018 is still proving to be strong in the beauty realm, with purple shades of make-up spotted everywhere – especially on lips. And while we still love matte mauve, this year it’s all about the juicy lip, which creates the illusion of a naturally fuller pout.

Two shades of colour

Do you always wear red lipstick but want to try an orange shade? Our solution is to wear both. Dual-hue lips are having a huge moment. The trend involves using two different lipstick shades or colours and keeping them completely separate from each other – so no lip smacking whatsoever. It’s also best to stick to matte shades, as these tend not to bleed. As for colours – go as daring as you like, but if it’s fuller-looking lips you're after then stick to lipstick with similar tones.

Glossy Lady

When legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath glossed up her models’ lips in glitter at just about every fashion show this past season, we knew we could expect a resurgence of this ’90s trend. To avoid looking like a bad ’90s throwback, keep it modern and sophisticated by pairing your shimmering gloss with make-up that leans towards neutral territory.

Metal lips

Fresh and elegant, this look is the perfect way to pay homage to the metallic trend without your lips looking like a glitter ball. And when paired with a bold matte shade, such as fuchsia, lips look even more striking.

Lips with a gradient effect

A K-beauty trend making major beauty waves is the gradient lip. Blending and fading is key to creating this gorgeous look that relies on a contrast of dark and light shades. Start off by applying concealer to lips, as this will help to lighten them and make the colour stand out even more. Next, apply the darkest colour to your top lip blending the colour out, all the way toward the centre of the bottom lip. Lastly, add your lightest colour to the lower area of your bottom lip.
