Haute sport is athleisure’s newest update

- - No comments
Not even Gucci and Chanel, two of fashions biggest names in high-end and luxury, can resist the pull of athleisure, or as we’re calling it, haute sport.
By now you know athleisure: what it looks like, why we love it and which celebs do it best. But did you know its origin stems from ’90s hip-hop culture? And that it stuck around during the early naughties but transformed as fashion moved towards futuristic influences? Recently the trend has been given a new spin by designers like Virgil Abloh through the stark styles of his brand Off-White. We take a look at athleisure’s latest facelift, 2019’s version, haute sport.

QUICK-FIRE TIPS & TRICKS TO GETTING THESE TRENDS RIGHT

If you’d like to wear haute sport to work then think of pairing a laid-back pair of tracksuit pants with heels and a blazer. The trick is to keep a professional silhouette while playing with the key pieces.
Try it on a night out. Thanks to Kim Kardashian, ski pants, a blazer and a pair of transparent heels is the new night-out uniform. Try platform sneakers for a more pared-down look.
Proceed with caution. There really is a difference between athletic and athleisure. To nail athleisure/haute sport, remember to include pieces that speak to the ‘leisure’ or ‘haute’ side of the trend – blazers, heels, clutches, handbags and button-up shirts for example.
Your make-up should be polished, bright and youthful. This will also help with the ‘leisure’ or ‘haute’ side of things. Make your lips or eyes pop with some colour if you feel like the outfit needs a playful edge.
