Here are the five beauty trends that we will see dominate in 2020. From vinyl lips to overloaded blush, beauty never looked so good.
From bold vinyl lips to a new and modern way to wear your blush, we’ve tracked the five trailblazing trends that are expected to soar into the new decade.
1. From no-make-up make-up to literally no make-up
The popular trend that dominated the beauty scene for the last two seasons is set for a major edit; that is, no more highlighting, contouring or concealing, but rather layers of hardworking moisturisers to achieve a fresh and glowing face that can be as glossy or as matte as you fancy.
2. From matte to bold vinyl lips
Step outside of the matte comfort zone you’ve been in for the past while and embrace the vinyl lip trend this year. In vibrant shades of red, pink and orange, as well as deep shades of maroon, burgundy and purple, the high-shine effect will make a dramatic statement.
3. From conservative to exaggerated neon and glitter
Euphoria sparked a colourful make-up revolution perhaps more than any other TV show to date. With flashes of neon, bright eyeliner designs, indulgent smatterings of glitter and sequined-pressed lids, the Euphoria effect is expected to spread even further in 2020.
4. From subtle and traditional to overloaded blush
While peach shades reigned supreme in 2019, it’s bright and intense pink that’s going to take over come 2020. And while sweeping a flush of colour on the apples of your cheeks is obvious, the latest runways have provided us with more imaginative ways to wear blush – on the lids, temples and under the brow bones.
5. From the brushed-back high ponytail to every kind of braid
From trendy twists to tight jewel-embellished cornrows, braids in all shapes and sizes are making a triumphant return. On the AW19/20 runway Max Mara channeled Wednesday Addams's pigtail braids to flatter the pastel-hued eye and punk-inspired lip combo on the models, while Dior and Erdem opted for sophisticated sleek plaits.
